If you’re a figure skating fanatic, then you know that one of the most iconic names in the sport is none other than Dick Button. The two-time Olympic Champion and five-time World Champion took the skating world by storm in the late 1940s and early 1950s with his astounding maneuvers such as the double axel jump, triple loop and “Button camel.” After hanging up his skates, he went on to lead a successful broadcasting career, covering countless high-profile figure skating events.

He also began building an impressive figure-skating themed art collection ranging from 17th-century Dutch paintings to 20th-century sculpture. The Fenimore Art Museum is proudly bringing this exquisite exhibit, along with many others, to Cooperstown April 1 - December 31, 2017. The multifaceted collection and memorabilia celebrates the past, present and future of the sport through an array of whimsical paintings, intricate costumes, stunning photos, and much more. Visitors to the exhibit will admire the artistry of figure skating and the sport’s impact on everyday life and culture.
