We’re really looking forward to everything 2018 has to hold, all the special events, things to do and festivals. While events are constantly being added to the Cooperstown area calendar, our friends over at the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce helped us put together this list of everything we have to look forward to so far! Get ready to mark your calendars not once, not twice, but several times!

 

2018 Events in Cooperstown

Hawkeye International Nights

Every Wednesday January - March

Head over to Hawkeye Bar and Grill for a three course internationally-themed dinner each Wednesday. Taste exotic and intriguing flavors from around the world at Hawkeye International Nights, all while comfortably close to home in Cooperstown.


Family Cooking Classes

January 9th, February 6th & March 6th

Executive Chef Jim Perillo at The Otesaga Resort Hotel hosts interactive cooking classes focused on family meals. Each month has new recipes and classes are kept small so Chef Perillo can give attendees one on one attention. Reservations required. Call (607) 544-2524.


Taste of NY Series

January 26th, February 23rd, & March 30th

Craft beverages are a Cooperstown staple and this new series applauds area efforts with themed tastings of beer, wine, and liquor paired with fun local fare in the form of a four-course meal at The Otesaga. Reservations required. Call (607) 544-2524.


Valentine's Day Dinner at The Otesaga

February 14th

Surprise your sweetheart with a thoughtful and romantic evening at The Otesaga, including a decadent prix-fixe menu followed by music and dancing. Reservations required. Call (607) 544-2524.


Cooperstown Winter Carnival

February 9-11, 2018

The Cooperstown Winter Carnival is celebrating its 51st year. This annual event celebrates the best parts of winter in Cooperstown with, food, music, ice skating, sledding, kids activities and more. The Otesaga is doing a very special Ice Bar right next to the stunning Fire Bar - be sure to check it out.

 

Sugaring Off Sundays

Every Sunday in March

The weekly event begins March 4 and continues each Sunday during the month (March 4, 11, 18, and 25), offering contemporary and historic maple sugaring demonstrations, children's activities and more at The Farmers’ Museum. A full pancake breakfast including scrambled eggs, sausage, and home fries is served with delicious local maple syrup!

 

Snommegang in Oneonta

March 10, 2018

Snommegang Invitational Beer Festival is back at Muller Plaza on March 10th! Come to Main Street for great beer and music from around the country. Food will be available for purchase from the fantastic restaurants on Main Street.


St. Patrick’s Day Dinner at The Otesaga

March 17th, 2018

Irish dancers take the floor at Hawkeye Bar and Grill, while corned beef and cabbage star in an Irish-themed three course dinner. Reservations recommended. Call (607) 544-2524.


Glimmerglass Afternoon Tea with Elsa from Frozen

April 8th

Experience traditional afternoon tea at Glimmerglass with your choice of tea, scones and pastries baked to perfection. Then, visit with Elsa and grab a picture to remember the experience. Reservations recommended. Call (607) 544-2524.


Hall of Fame Classic Weekend

May 25-27, 2018

Baseball’s mythical home is also America’s Most Perfect Village. So when the National Pastime and Americana intersect in Cooperstown, it’s a weekend guaranteed to be a Classic. Six Hall of Fame members will be joined by recently retired players representing all 30 major league teams for a seven-inning legends game on Saturday, May 26. https://baseballhall.org/visit/hall-of-fame-classic


National Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Weekend

July 27-30, 2018

Hall of Fame Weekend is the most popular weekend to visit Cooperstown. Honor the heroes and traditions of baseball with the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, parades and loads of fanfare.

 

Brewery Ommegang’s Belgium Comes to Cooperstown (BCTC)

August TBD

Belgium comes to Cooperstown, or "BCTC," is our annual summer beer fest celebrating (and sampling) the best in Belgian and Belgian-style beers. Since its inaugural in 1999, BCTC has grown from a modest gathering to a full-fledged festival with weekend camping; staged live music; a 700 person VIP dinner; late night movie screenings; receptions and lectures. Over 100 breweries from around the world participate with more than 3,000 guests attending.

 

Fenimore Art Museum’s Art by the Lake

Fenimore Art Museum presents its annual juried art event celebrating the relationship between artists and the landscape, Art by the Lake. In addition to showcasing outstanding painters, photographers, and sculptors selling their work, the event features artist demonstrations, great food, live music, plus great beer – all with the backdrop of picturesque Otsego Lake.

 

The Farmers’ Museum Harvest Festival

Join the ultimate celebration of autumn! Harvest Festival is a regional favorite, bringing together a wide range of performers, artisans, and exhibitors. Enjoy great food, music, animals, and activities families will love.

 

Cooperstown Artisan Festival

September 1-2, 2018

The Cooperstown Artisan Festival is a weekend long event featuring artisans, crafters and makers from throughout the region. In 2017, the inaugural event had 60 vendors.

 

Main Street Cooptoberfest

October 6, 2018

Cooptoberfest has quickly become a Cooperstown favorite. This one day street festival features vendors, live music, a cornhole tournament, bounce houses, games, and more, followed by Cooperstown On Tap. Cooperstown on Tap is a beer festival held in Doubleday Field parking lot presented by America On Tap.

 

The Farmers’ Museum TractorFest

October 6-7, 2018

Learn about the world of tractors and all the activities they powered on New York farms. See classic tractors, small engines, and other machinery, representing the advance of farming technology. TractorFest is perfect for tractor enthusiasts of all ages.

 

Fly Creek Cider Mill’s CiderFest

October 6-7, 2018

The weekend features the Mill doing what it does best, making fresh, sweet cider the old-fashioned way on its 1889 water-powered cider press. Pressing demonstrations will be performed and special tastings scheduled. CiderFest is a fabulous fall outing.

 

Glimmerglass Film Days

November TBD

Glimmerglass Film Days, a program of Otsego 2000, is curated by Margaret Parsons of Washington DC and features screenings of award-winning films, as well as encounters and collaborations with internationally known artists, activists and aficionados in a 5-day series enlivened by local foods, brews, wines, and cocktails, and optional hikes and walks, all designed to celebrate the natural and historic resources of the Cooperstown region.

 

Coop Eats Restaurant Week

November TBD

This event serves as a celebration of Cooperstown’s local food movement while solidifying Cooperstown as a regional gem and destination for food. Coop Eats is held in conjunction with Cooperstown’s film festival, Glimmerglass Film Days. Participating restaurants will offer a prix-fixe dinner menu, in addition to their regular menu.

 

Santa Comes to Cooperstown

November 23, 2018

Each year Pioneer Park in Cooperstown is transformed into an enchanting “Christmas village” for the holidays. Santa will be arriving in his horse drawn sleigh at his cottage in Pioneer Park at 5:00 p.m. on November 23th -come enjoy warm refreshments and music! Santa will take residence in his cottage from November 24th through December 24th to greet children; his schedule will be posted at Pioneer Park. Come enjoy the spirit of Christmas in Cooperstown!

 

The Farmer’s Museum Candlelight Evening

December TBD

The landscape of The Farmers’ Museum is adorned with greenery and aglow with hundreds of candle luminaries. Real jingle bells add to the magic of the evening as horses dressed in harness bells pull wagons carrying visitors through the museum’s snowy grounds. Gather around a bonfire on the tavern green and partake of complimentary wassail, made with local cider, warming in kettles over open fires – served throughout the event.
