Each spring, the iconic museums that call Cooperstown home plan new exhibits, offering fresh appeal for new and return visitors alike. 2018 brings a plethora of interesting, beautiful, and fun displays for guests to experience at all three museums. Here's the breakdown of what's new this year.

New at the Baseball Hall of Fame

New at The Farmers' Museum

Hops and Craft Brewing programs start May 12th

You may not know it, but Central NY was one of largest producers of hops in the 1800s. It was lovingly nicknamed "Hop City". And this year, The Farmers' Museum adds to their daily excitement with a season of hops programs - an in depth look at hops growing, beer making and other uses for this unique crop. From beer tastings and home brewing talks to special tours and farming demonstrations, it all leads up to one of the biggest celebrations of the year: Hopsego. The whole family will love learning about how this crop put Otsego county on the map and how it has impacted both the past and present.

New at Fenimore Art Museum

Edward Weston: Portrait of the Young Man as an Artist - opens March 31st

This exhibit compares Edward Weston's first artistic efforts from a recently discovered family album, with his most known and regarded pieces. Experience the evolution of his work, from talented young man to master of the artform.

Thomas Cole and the Garden of Eden - opens May 25th

Centered on Cole's masterwork, Expulsion from the Garden of Eden, this exhibit explores the early influencers to Thomas Cole's work. More than a dozen other institutions have loaned works to the Fenimore Art Museum and in anticipation of this prized exhibit, The Otesaga has developed a special package to help art lovers plan the perfect Cooperstown getaway.

The Barber Surreal: Eugene Berman's Reimagined Barber of Seville - opens March 31st

A collaboration with the Metropolitan Opera, Fenimore Art Museum puts photographs, costumes, and stage designs created by Berman for the 1953 production of The Barber of Seville on display. This exhibit is specially planned in conjunction with the Glimmerglass Festival production of the opera.
