Fall in Love with Cooperstown: Your Cider, Apple, & Pumpkin Patch Itinerary
Bright foliage. Crisp, sweet apples. Picking pumpkins with the family. The sights, flavors and activities synonymous with fall make it a favorite time of year for so many people. Cooperstown is one of the best places to experience this season, and we have your itinerary to get the most out of your fall getaway to America's Most Perfect Village.

The Farmers' Museum

Before you head out on your expedition, visit The Farmers' Museum and stroll through their 19th-century country village and farmstead. Say hello to the farm animals, ride the Empire State Carousel, and let the kids enjoy some playtime in the new Grow Patch interactive play area. See the new exhibit Brew: New York's Craft Beer Revival where you'll discover the region's rich history of hop production and brewing. If you're visiting in September, be sure to plan your trip during Harvest Festival (September 21–22), their popular celebration featuring local foods, live music, artisans, and many fun family activities.

Fly Creek Cider Mill

The sweet taste of apple cider is a sure sign that fall has arrived! A visit to Fly Creek Cider Mill offers a behind the scenes look at how cider is pressed (using original equipment from the 1800s!). During the height of the season, some 20,000 gallons are pressed, and on the weekend visitors can witness the press in action. Not convinced? Samples of their sweet and hard cider are available in the Mill Store, along with many other delicious products.

Middlefield Orchard

Picking your own apples is the perfect fall family activity. Whether you're gathering them for baking or snacking on the car ride home, nothing beats the flavor of an apple right from the tree. Middlefield Orchard, just outside of Cooperstown, is a great u-pick spot with many varieties of apples to choose from. Stroll up and down the rows of dwarf trees (this smaller tree makes it easy for kids to join in the fun) and find your favorite apples.
Don't forget the pumpkins! Pumpkins are also available for picking throughout the fall, making it the ideal spot for family fun! Get ready to carve your best jack o'lanterns after choosing from their patch.

Where to Stay

Of course, when you've filled up on all of your picking, you'll need a place to relax after your busy day. Be sure to take advantage of fall deals at The Otesaga and The Cooper Inn and enjoy the charming accommodations and close location to the shops and restaurants on Main Street.
