May is the month to make Cooperstown your family vacation destination. From baseball buffs and art lovers, to music fans and foodies, we’ve got something for every member of the family to experience and enjoy. Here’s just five events for starters…


1. Spring Classic at The Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum

How about watching retired baseball greats battle it out on the famous Doubleday Field? The Annual Spring Classic, hosted by The Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, is a premier event featuring retired big name players participating in a variety of activities around town. Events include the big game at Doubleday Field, stars playing catch with families after the game, and a meet and greet with players at the always popular “Night At The Museum” event. It’s a baseball lover’s dream!


2. Tour the Ansel Adams exhibit at Fenimore Art Museum.

3. Enjoy a concert at Brewery Ommegang

Music and brew lovers will want to visit Brewery Ommegang for the kick-off performance of their 2016 Summer Concert Series with Lake Street Drive and their special guests Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings. Enjoy brew & the music under the stars for an evening, or pitch a tent and stay the night!


4. Visit Fly Creek

Attention Foodies! A visit to the Fly Creek Mill & Orchard is a must! In addition to their 40+ daily free samples, they also have multiple special events planned in May, from the Dippity Do Da Days to the Grilling 101 series. For the sweet tooth in the family, there’s even a “Pure NY Maple Sugar” event!


5. General Clinton Canoe Regatta

Cooperstown comes alive on Memorial Day weekend with the General Clinton Canoe Regatta on beautiful Lake Otsego. Racers, spectators, and their families come together to enjoy all of the special events in and around Cooperstown over the weekend, but especially the always exciting 5 to 70-mile Regatta races!
