Cooperstown is full of things to do year round, but spring is special in that everything is getting greener, the sun is getting warmer, and there are plenty of seasonal activities to keep visitors on their toes. Just in case you are boggled as to what activities to fill your Cooperstown getaway with, here's our Top 8 Spring Bucket List to jump start the planning process.

Top 8 Spring Bucket List

  1. Bring on brunch! Try Sunday brunch at The Otesaga. Belgian waffles with local pure maple syrup and corned beef hash can't be wrong. BONUS: After a leisurely and relaxing brunch, stay and enjoy a glass of wine on the veranda where the sun is splendid in the spring.
  2. Envelope yourself in art. Visit Fenimore Art Museum and explore American Indian art from the Thaw Collection, Marc Chagall designed costumes from the Metropolitan Opera, or the wonderful workings of Maxfield Parrish starting May 23rd. BONUS: Spend the whole weekend relishing in the cultural side of Cooperstown with The Otesaga's Maxfield Parrish Special. Includes accommodations, tickets to the museum, trolley transportation and more.
  3. Love a little lamb (babies coming in May)! Visit The Farmer's Museum for a little animal love. Say hello to the animals then stroll around the spring filled farm. Check their calendar for events like the annual sheep shearing in April, herbal remedies weekend and weed workshops later this spring.
  4. Take a tour though baseball history at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.  Enjoy the great stories of baseball, stretching from the earliest days and giving perspective to today's game.  See thousands of artifacts from the game's past, watch video, hear audio, see historic images, enjoy hands-on learning, delve deeper with computer interactive displays and test your baseball knowledge.
  5. Live like a local at the Cooperstown Farmer's Market. Start your Saturday off right, by browsing over 30 vendors at the Cooperstown Farmer's Market. You'll discover a huge array of local wares including baked goods, wine, produce, yarn, pottery, and other crafts. Pop over for a visit at 101 Main Street in Pioneer Alley.
  6. Take in the scenery on Otsego Lake. Enjoy a nice paddle on the lake and take in the spring air. Canoe, rowboat, and paddleboard rentals are available to guests staying at The Otesaga. Guests - be sure to pack your fishing license to enjoy one of the best fishing spots in New York. Otsego Lake is home to loads of lake salmon, trout, and bass.
  7. Go green on the golf course. Nothing says spring like a good round of golf. The Leatherstocking Golf Course is rated 4.5 stars by Golf Digest. It is considered one of the East's most scenic and challenging resort golf courses - where the last two holes can be a nail biter. BONUS: Make it an overnight trip with special rates from The Otesaga.
  8. See wildlife wake up from winter at Glimmerglass State Park. Just 8 miles outside Cooperstown, enjoy one or several trails the state park has to offer. Enjoy a quiet walk in the woods or time it right to snap a few photographs of the wildflowers in bloom along the Blue Bird Trail.
