It is always a good time to visit The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum and relive the greatest players and moments in the history of America’s Pastime. However, visiting early in the year presents some unique benefits and we have listed them below.
1. New “Whole New Ballgame” Exhibit (http://baseballhall.org/discover/museum)
The Baseball Hall of Fame recently opened their new exhibit “Whole New Ballgame”. This interactive display focuses on baseball history from 1970 through the upcoming season. Watch your favorite video clips on their large video displays, check out rare artifacts from that era, and leave with a comprehensive view of today’s game.
2. Avoid the Big Crowds
Nobody likes to stand in line – especially when they are on vacation. During the summer months, Cooperstown hosts a large number of visitors looking to tour the Hall of Fame. Skip the lines and make your trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame a more personal experience.
3. Special Events
While summer is a popular time to visit, spring holds some of our favorite events at the Baseball Hall of Fame. Opening Day (http://baseballhall.org/events/opening-day-2016?date=0) of the MLB season is a day that is celebrated all over the United States and Cooperstown is no exception. Visitors that day get to compete in trivia contests for prizes while watching live games from around the League.
Also, Memorial Day weekend brings with it the Cooperstown Classic. (http://baseballhall.org/visit/hall-of-fame-classic) DoubleDay Field hosts several Hall of Famers as well as former players representing all 30 MLB teams in a seven-inning game. Many of the players can be found in the Hall of Fame later that night for photos.
4. The HOF Experience
No matter when you visit, the Hall of Fame and all of its exhibits offer hours - if not days - worth of artifacts and memorabilia to experience. Enjoy the great stories of baseball, stretching from the earliest days and giving perspective to today's game. See thousands of artifacts from the game's past, see historic images, enjoy hands-on learning and delve deeper with interactive displays.
5. Experience All Cooperstown Offers
With so much to see and do, you may have to save some time to experience some of the other great places Cooperstown has to offer. Take a tour of the Beverage Trail. Immerse yourself in the works at Fenimore Art Museum. See history come to life at The Farmers’ Museum. Dine at The Otesaga Resort Hotel while enjoying breathtaking views of Lake Otsego.
One thing is certain. You won’t be at a loss for exciting things to do here in Cooperstown this Spring.
