Author Series: Erik Sherman

Our Authors Series brings noted baseball authors to Cooperstown for special lectures and book signings during the summer months. These programs are included with the cost of admission.

On Wednesday, August 26th at 1pm, the Hall of Fame will welcome author Erik Sherman to talk about his newly revised book, Out At Home: The Glenn Burke Story.

In this new edition of a book that first made headlines in the 1990s, author Erik Sherman helps tell the story of the first known gay player in major league history. Written from an autobiographical perspective, Burke discusses his difficult days with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Oakland A's, along with the tragedy of his fatal struggle with AIDS. The new edition features a foreword by Billy Bean, Major League Baseball's ambassador on inclusion and the second known gay player in big league history.

The program includes a return visit to the Hall of Fame by Erik Sherman, followed by a book signing in the Library Atrium. Presentation at 1 pm. Book signing at 1:30 pm.
