Get an organic jump start on your garden with seedlings of heirloom varieties of vegetables grown with organic soil and fertilizer:

Three varieties of tomatoes
Long Island cheese pumpkins, the best for pumpkin pie (They're called cheese pumpkins because they are flatter and resemble a cheese wheel.)
Purchase plants and cuttings from the museum's Botanical Specimen Garden. Many of the plants on sale were propagated from hardy, well-established rootstock by Patrick MacGregor, supervisor of Thrall's Pharmacy at the museum. Heritage plants are more characteristic and make an excellent addition to any gardener's landscape.

Plant varieties on sale include:

Sweet cicely
Blue false indigo
Rose bushes
A Native american corn variety in a pot, coupled with a package of beans and squash.  Includes planting diagrams.  Also, a selection of Native American plants will also be for sale.

The museum's stores have many items for experienced and beginning gardeners: tools, the latest books, and seeds for heirloom varieties of vegetables, flowers, and herbs. Decorative pots and easy starter kits for flowers, herbs, and tomatoes make perfect gifts for gardeners.

For over 20 years, gardeners in Central New York have relied on the Heritage Plant Sale at The Farmers' Museum for hardy, distinctive plants.
