SMRT Quartet in the Hawkeye
SMRT provides an environment that is family-friendly yet is also perfect for a group of adults wanting to grab a cocktail and spend time with friends. Their performances allows you to sit and listen, or spend private time with some friends while having some nice background music. The group typically performs tunes from the Great American Songbook (popular swing standards such as "All of Me," "How High the Moon," and "Satin Doll"). For jazz enthusiasts, they sprinkle their performances with a few lesser-known jazz tunes, and for fun, they typically include some contemporary music in their sets (for example, classic R & B songs from artists such as Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, and Roberta Flack). The group is composed of seasoned musicians, and therefore, they are accustomed to "playing the crowd." The musicians have an impressive list of accomplishments, and have performed with many well-known artists. Group members are Joe Siracusa (guitar), Robert Roman (piano), Angus Mackie (bass), and Joe Tokarowski (drums). See them tonight in the Glimmerglass from 6 to 8:30 pm.
