Photography Workshop: Alternative Processes
with photographer Kevin Gray
Saturday, May 21 from 1:00-5:00 pm
Taught by Kevin Gray. In this class participants will learn techniques for creating cyanotypes and van dyke brown prints, two of the most accessible alternative photographic processes and often used as a ‘gateway' for more complex processes such as platinum, albumen, and salt printing. First, participants will be shown how to use Adobe Photoshop to create their own ‘digital negatives' from their photographs, which can then be used to create prints. Then they will be shown step-by-step instructions for creating cyanotypes and van dyke brown prints using inexpensive chemicals and materials, and exposing images in sunlight (or in a UV light box if a cloudy day). Participants should bring a flash drive containing some favorite photographs that may be used to create digital negatives during the course.
Cost: $80. To register, please call (607) 547-1461.
